1. Applications

The SDI-12-LB/LS is a SDI-12 to LoRaWAN Converter that bridges SDI-12 environmental sensors to LoRaWAN wireless networks. SDI-12 is the dominant protocol in precision agriculture — used by soil moisture probes, weather stations, water quality analyzers, and plant physiology sensors. The SDI-12-LB/LS powers these sensors via controllable 5V and 12V outputs, polls them using standard SDI-12 commands, and transmits the results over LoRaWAN. Typical use cases include:
Precision Agriculture (soil moisture, temperature, salinity)
     Weather Station Networks
     Irrigation Management Systems
     Environmental & Water Quality Monitoring

2. Product Overview

The Dragino SDI-12-LB/LS is an agriculture-grade SDI-12 to LoRaWAN Converter that purpose-built to bring SDI-12 sensors onto LoRaWAN networks. It provides controllable 5V and 12V power outputs to drive external SDI-12 sensors, supports multi-sampling with single uplink consolidation, and is compatible with all major LoRaWAN frequency bands. With a 48MHz ARM MCU, 256KB flash, and ultra-low power consumption (5µA sleep, 125mA TX), it achieves up to 5 years of operation on an 8500mAh Li/SOCl₂ battery — or indefinite runtime with the solar-powered LS variant. Built-in BLE and OTA firmware upgrade support eliminate the need for site visits. This Converter is the missing link between legacy SDI-12 sensor fleets and modern cloud-based farm management platforms.
